ALBION -- Laura G. Higgins, 76, of Albion passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor following a battle with cancer. Her son, brother and niece were at her side. Laura was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Knox, the daughter of Wesley and Estella (Howes) Warman. She married Earl Higgins of Albion and lived all her married life in Albion where she and Earl raised their two sons.

Laura enjoyed crocheting, chatting on the phone, taking rides with her son, Carroll and going out to eat. One of her joys in life was her cat, Bertha.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Earl; and three half sisters, Ava Cunningham, Avis Sprowl and Julia Elwell.

Laura will be sadly missed by her two sons, Carroll Higgins of Albion and Robert Higgins of Waterville; her half brother, Freddie Bailey of Knox; her half- sister, Sadie Ward of Searsport; her special great nephew, "her boy", Alex Scott; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St. in Fairfield. Spring burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Albion.
