IRENE CLAIRE KIRKPATRICK, 85, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007, in Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was born August 13, 1922 in Macon, Georgia, to Harold Preston and Irene Claire (Cooper) Shannon Houston.

She met and fell in love with Bruce Kirkpatrick while he was a pilot at the air base in Colombus, MS. They were married in 1942.

She was a member of McFarlin United Methodist Church, Wine and Cheese Bridge Club, and the Military Wives Club. She also enjoyed volunteer work at Norman Regional Hospital. Irene was very devoted to her friends and loved ones. She was very caring and thoughtful of others.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years; her parents; her three children, Wallace Kirkpatrick, Harry Kirkpatrick, and infant daughter; two brothers, W.W. Shannon and Harold Shannon.

Survivors include nephew, Harold Shannon ofIndianola, MS; nephew, Billy Shannon of Tyler, TX; niece, Eleanor Fraley of Macon, MS; and sister-in-law, Edna Shannon of Macon, MS.

Memorial Services: Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman with Rev. Dick House officiating.
