The son of William & Susanna (Wiggins) Whiting, he married (1) Mary Pynchon in 1669/70 and (2) Anna Allyn, daughter of Col. John Allyn in 1676. He was a merchant and Treasurer of the colony from 1678 - 1717 and died while he was attended the General Assembly of Hartford.
