AN AGED LADY SUDDENLY STRICKEN DOWN
She Was in Fairly Good Health Last Evening, But This Morning a Corpse - Other Deaths
Again has the uncertainty of life been pictured in the death of Mrs. Mary Whigham, whose sudden and unexpected demise occurred early this morning, at the residence of her son, Mr. John Whigham, on Wilkins alley, where the lady had made her home for some time past.
Last evening, Mrs. Whigham was in usual good health, which she has been enjoying for some time past, in fact was at the grocery store of F. J. Phillips and purchased groceries for the morning's breakfast. She retired complaining of no illness, but between 1 and 2 o'clock her son was awakened by hearing her coughing violently and repairing to her room found her struggling in the throes of death. He summoned neighbors and started for a doctor, but before anybody had arrived at the house she had breathed her last. When the physician arrived he attributed death to an attack of apoplexy.
Mrs. Whigham was 76 years of age and a pioneer resident of McKeesport, having been born in this city, where a greater part of her life was spent. the funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock; interment in Versailles cemetery.
