Mrs. Elvie Carter Whatley Ellis, 98, of Andalusia, died Friday March 6, 2009 at the Andalusia Hospital. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Sunday March 8th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Davis officiating, burial will follow in Oakey Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 PM Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughters Wilma (Bill) Tillman of Andalusia and Willie (Harvie) Brooks of Pensacola, FL, her brother, W.O. (Willadeen) Carter of Andalusia, 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Frazier Whatley, Dennis Cross, and Ernie Ellis, her son, Wilson Whatley, 3 grandchildren, her parents, Harley and Mary Magdalene Carter, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mrs. Ellis is to be commended for her services to her country during World War II as awelder on ships and airplanes in Mobile, AL
Pallbearers will be Steve Maddox, Kenny Maughon, Dwight Mikel, Shane Miller, Bill Tillman, Jr., and Buddy Wilkes.
