The funeral for Emil G. Meyer, 93, of Fremont, formerly of the Scribner/Hooper area, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Michael Thomas will officiate Saturday's service.

He died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in Arbor Manor in Fremont.

He was born Oct. 16, 1911, on the farm near Hooper to Henry and Mary "Hilbers" Meyer. He attended rural Hooper schools and the agriculture college in Lincoln.

Meyer farmed with his brothers, and then after his marriage, lived on various farms in Dodge and Cuming counties.

He retired in 1981 and moved into Scribner. In 1991, he moved to Fremont.

He had been a member of St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church, then was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church (on the county line) near Scribner. There, he was a charter member of Men in Mission. He also served on the church council. Since moving to Fremont, he was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

He also was on the Uehling Fire Board and had been on the boards of School District 68 and also District 81 in Cuming County.

He had been a member of Fremont's Golden "K" Kiwanis Club and Fremont Eagles Aerie 200.

He married Lorraine Oeltjen on Aug. 9, 1939, at St. John's Ridgeley Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, in April 2002 and by an infant son.

Survivors include: two daughters, Patricia Huff of St. Paul, Minn. and Julie Meyer of Wall Lake, Iowa; a son, Terry (and wife, Barbara) Meyer of Fremont and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont and will continue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with family receiving friends 1-2 p.m.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, north of Hooper.
