Levi White of 278 Elm street, was almost instantly killed Thursday evening by falling down stairs at the home about 11 o'clock. Mr. White's foot caught in a loose piece of carpet at the stairs in the front hallway of his house and he fell headlong down the stairs, breaking his neck.
Mr. White was born in Canada 56 years ago, and had lived in this town for more than 30 years. He was well-known locally, and formerly was, for many years, a teamster for the late Hyatt Osborne, and of late had been employed at the Municipal Gas Works.
Besides his widow he leaves two sons, Levi C. White and Joseph White, two daughters, May White and Mrs. Alfred St. Jean; a brother, Mr. Charles C. White and five sisters, Mrs. Edward Bernicke, Mrs. Isaac Gamache of Westfield, Mrs. Alpheus Paquette of Springfield, Mrs. Samuel Bolio of Williamsett and Mrs. Samuel Paquette of Holyoke.
