When Gertrude "Charity" Hageman was born on 6 November 1781, in New Jersey, United States, her father, Benjamin Adriaensen Hegeman, was 51 and her mother, Sarah Voorhees, was 38. She had at least 4 sons and 8 daughters with John P Nevius. She lived in Franklin Township, Somerset, New Jersey, United States in 1850. She died on 11 April 1859, in New York, United States, at the age of 77, and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Northville, Wayne, Michigan, United States.
