Peter Hegeman (b.1764-d.1838) married Nancy "Ann" Suydam and had 3 children. Their children were; Sarah who never married, Cornelius who died young, and Major Benjamin Hegeman, who served with the New Jersey Second Battalion, Third Regiment, Somerset County Militia. The entire family eventually moved first to Dayton, Ohio before permanently settling in Fayette County, Indiana. The Peter Hegeman family lived on the original Adrian Hegeman Homestead Plantation at Six Mile Run, Somerset County, NJ., before moving west.
