Funeral services for Ann Painovich were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug 7, 2003, at the Vase Funeral Chapel in Rock Springs. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at the chapel. The Rev. John Savio officiated. Interment was in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Rock Springs.
Mrs. Painovich, 92, of 1022 Ninth St., Rock Springs, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at her granddaughter’s residence in Rock Springs. She had been in ill health for the past three weeks.
Mrs. Painovich was born on May 26, 1911, in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late John and Julia Murinko Fabiny. She attended schools in Rock Springs and quit school after six years to help take care of seven younger brothers and sisters.
She married Milan Painovich in Rock Springs and he preceded her in death in Rock Springs in November of 1972.
Mrs. Painovich was a retired waitress and hotel clerk, having worked for the Park Hotel in Rock Springs for many years. She retired in the late 1960s.
She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Her interests included cooking, baking, crocheting, keeping a spotless home, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one sister, Agnes Aho of Newcastle; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Fabiny and Freida Painovich, both of Rock Springs; two grandchildren, Steven Painovich of Eden and Barbara Bogataj and husband Karl of Rock Springs; two great-grandchildren, Amber Knapp and husband Norm and Stephanie Jasperson and husband Jon; two great-great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Jasperson and Alexis Knapp; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Kenneth “Skip” and Wayne; four brothers, John, Steve, Andy and George; and two sisters, Louise Carmichael and Kay Bucho.
