"Ill One Month

William J. Whalen, 333 Forrest Drive, died at 11:15 o'clock last night at the University Hospital in Baltimore of a brain tumor, aged 38. He had been ill for one month. Mr. Whalen, who was connected with the Hagerstown Table works and was well known in this city, was born in Armourdale, Kansas and lived in Huntington, West Virginia before coming to Hagerstown.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Elks. He is survived by his wife Margret Smith Whalen and son, William James Jr., of Hagerstown, and three brothers, Patrick J., Huntington, West Virginia, Michael J., Hagerstown, and Edward P., New York City.

The body will be taken to Washington this afternoon and thence to Huntington, where services will be held Monday with requiem mas in St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Monsignor Newcombe officiating. Interment will be in Woodmere cemetery"

William was youngest child of James H. Whalen and Mary Ann Dempsey. He was the brother of Katie, Mary, Jane, James, Patrick, John, Michael and Edward. He is the grandson of John Whalen and Mary Sullivan and Patrick J.and Mary Dempsey.
