Marvin L. Swee, 77, of Vermillion died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD.

Marvin was born December 20, 1931, the son of Magnus and Ella (Hovde) Swee in Clay County, SD. He married Lorraine Peterson on September 20, 1949 at rural Beresford. He attended grade school at Saginow District #25 rural school and then graduated from Vermillion High School.

He was a farmer until 1972 then moved into Vermillion and worked for U.S.D until 1978. He worked for the Clay Union Electric and he retired in 1989.

He was on the school board for Saginow school district #25. He was a 4-H leader for a numerous of years. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion.

Marvin enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and enjoyed his family.

Grateful to have shared of his life is his wife, Lorraine of Vermillion; three sons, Steve (Claudia) of Omaha, Nebr., Bryan of Danbury, IA, and Bradley (Linda) of Vermillion; 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Maynard (Marilyn) of Sioux Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, and one daughter, Suzanne Swee.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion with Pastor Ed Anderson officiating.

Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion.
