ROY - Parley V. Oleson our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away February 25, 2009, at the age of 95, surrounded by his loving family, leaving a posterity of 88. Dad was born January 30, 1914 to Oley and Fannie Romrall Oleson, in West Point, Utah, the sixth of seven children. He graduated from Davis High School and was able to attend his 70th high school reunion.

He was a Veteran of WW11 and served in the Army Air Corp as Aerial Engineer. He married our dear mother Dorothy Falkner in the Salt Lake temple. She passed away after 47 years of marriage and six children. He married Viola Woolsey in the Hawaii Temple and she passed away after 22 years of marriage.

Dad had a zest for life. He loved to hunt, fish, landscaping and he built many waterfalls. Our father raised orchids in his green house, numbering 2500, including species
from all over the world. He served as president of the Utah Orchid Society. He liked to travel the U.S. and visited many foreign countries. In his 95th year he was able to travel to Nauvoo Illinois with four of his children.

Dad was a pioneer of secondary water and served as its chairman. He was Roy City Park Superintendent for many years. He redesigned three parks in Roy and
designed and built Sandridge Park. He received many commendations from around the country for these beautiful parks. On his 95th Birthday he was presented a plaque form Roy City thanking him for his years of service to beautify the community and proclaiming Jan. 30th Parley Oleson appreciation Day in Roy.

He was an active member of the LDS church throughout his life and served in many positions . He served three missions; Spanish American, Bogota Colombia, and Baton Rouge Louisiana, He had a passion for genealogy work and was a temple ordinance worker.

He is survived by his sons and daughters; Paula O. Carter, Lorrilee (Ron) Hardy, Marilyn (Jim) Bacon, Merlin (Phyllis) Oleson, Patty Probasco, and Allen (Linda) Oleson, He is also survived by 34 grand children, 44 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grand children.

Special thanks to Robert, our friend from Hospice and the many family members that helped us with his care.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roy 16th Ward, 4224 South 2525 West, Roy, Utah. Friends and family may call on Sunday, March 1, 2009, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Monday from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.

Interment in the Washington Heights Memorial Park.
