Leona was reared in the West Point, Utah area. As a young woman she worked as a practical nurse and midwife. She was proud of the women and babies she cared for before her marriage. She had been a service to many people delivering babies and cooking and sewing for them.
Vern & Leona were married April 1, 1932 in West Point. The financial woes of the young couple were complicated during their first years because of the depression which still lingered. They raised two sons.
Leona always had beautiful flowers and a vegetable garden. The family moved to Nyssa, Oregon in 1954 where they lived their remaining days.
Leona developed and died of liver cancer. In many ways she had a hard life but she never complained. Her example of service and her concern for family is commendable.
