Saxon Berners Bruce, 80, retired Union Pacific Railroad conductor of 1914 Second Street La Grande, Oregon, died Sunday, February 1, 1970 at St. Joseph Hospital, following a short illness.

Born October 1, 1889 in Newport, Oregon, Mr. Bruce had resided in La Grande, Oregon most of his life. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pearl Rosenbaum Bruce, La Grande, Oregon; two sons, Morris Van Noy Bruce of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Saxon James (Jim) Bruce of Portland, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. VonCeile (Vonnie) Shelley of Provo, Utah, Mrs. Evelyn Blaser, The Dalles, Oregon; 13 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the LDS Church (lower chapel). Bishop Richard G. Hiatt will officiate and burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery.

Dempsey's Funeral Home, is in charge of services and arrangements
