George was one of twenty six children raised by his father. When George was sixteen years old his father asked him to accompany him to see the proceedings of the capstone placement on the Salt Lake Temple. George remembered this as a special time with his father, as Robert died eight months later in the year 1892.
George and Tracy were married September 27, 1899 in the Logan Temple in Logan, Utah by the Apostle Marriner Merrill. They had six children including two sets of twins.
George attended Brigham Young College for three years and secured a certificate for teaching. He went on to run a dairy and taught school for many years, eventually becoming a principal. They lived in Idaho for a few years right after their marriage, then settled in Hyde Park where all of their children were born. George served a mission to the Western States Mission leaving in 1923 and returning home in 1925. George retired from teaching and focused on his dairy, also becoming a salesman to supplement the income.
After Tracy's death in 1937, George remarried Zola Griffeth Bodily in 1940 and together they had a son. George had a severe attack of influenza in March of 1960 which weakened his heart, and he spent much of his time in bed. By September he was stricken with an attack of asthma and continued to get weaker until he passed away on September 17, 1960 at his home in Hyde Park.
