Ensign (ENS), United States Navy Reserve (USNR), World War Two. While serving as a Naval Aviator assigned to Composite Squadron Twenty-One (VC-21) embarked aboard USS Nassau (CVE-16), bad weather and low fuel state forced him to make an emergency landing on San Clemente Island during which his F4F Wildcast crashed and he mortally injured - he was flown to Naval Hospital San Diego where he later surcumbed to his injuries.
