Carolyn H. Ferguson Our Family's Angel
Our kind wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister was received with open arms by her awaiting family and Savior on April 2nd after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born on October 26, 1937 in Long Beach California to Arthur and Ora Mae Hawkins.
She grew up in Southern California and at the age of 12 she moved to Salt Lake City with her family and lived in the Keith Hotel until the age of 21. She married her sweet and sometimes cantankerous companion Gordon "General Lee" Ferguson of Milledgeville, GA, on June 16, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they shared 44 years of happiness and had two daughters, Gaylene and Janet Lee.
Carolyn graduated from West High School in 1955 and attended the LDS Business College. She worked at the Federal Reserve Bank before choosing to be a full time wife, mother and genuine friend to many. Carolyn held many callings in life, including church callings, volunteering at her daughters and grandchildren's schools, being a secretary in the PTA and managing her father's business. But her most favorite calling was that of being wife, mother grandmother and friend to all those dear to her. Carolyn was a member of the Choral Arts Society of Utah.
She was a graceful and genuine lady who loved to be a peacemaker and create wonderful gatherings for family and friends. She was often known for her humorous character and frequent gentle joking manner. Our family's sorrow is great in her passing but it is only because she is loved so much by so many. She will be deeply missed by all.
Survived by her husband, Gordon Lee; daughters Gaylene (Steve) Chapman and Janet Lee (Henry) Sartori; brother Roger (Lorraine) Hawkins; sisters Gayla Mae Hawkins and Barbara (Robert) Nelson. Also her adoring grandchildren, Jessica and Benjamin Chapman, Randy Ferguson and Baby McKenna who is currently at Primary Children's Hospital. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry Hawkins, sister Sandra Bringhurst and two sweet grandchildren, AnnaLisa and Christopher Chapman.
Interment at Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
