LYONS - Elvera Alexander of Augusta passed away Dec. 19, 2008, at 5:45 a.m. She was 88 years old. Preceded in death by both father and mother, three brothers, and one sister. Survived by two sisters from Newton; husband, Elwyn L. Alexander of Augusta.
Elvera and Elwyn were married for 64 years, had eight children, sons, Ronald and Alice Alexander and family, Jimmy and Teresa Alexander and family, both of Ore. Daughters, Connie and Mark Steele and family from Hutchinson, Sarah and Larry Prebble and family from Hutchinson, Carolyn and Jim Young and family from Waldron, Ark., Marie and Howard Partington and family from Great Bend, Joyce Alexander and Larry and family, from Hutchinson, and Goldie and Doug Goodwin and family from Augusta; daughter of the heart, Dana and Dan Veach and family; 15 grandchildren, Wayne, Lonnie, April, Nacole, Ricky, Brian, Tony, Linda, Jason, Angela, Evelyn, Travis, Kimberly, Randy, Britney, and grandchildren of the heart, Denver and Danielle; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Rev. Robert Friesen officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial will be in the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Memorials may be sent to the Good Shepherd Hospice in care of the funeral home.
