AMMON, Bonnevllle County, Ida.- Mrs. Phoebe M. Porter Kartchener, 76, mother of Jesse Porter, Ammon, died Wednesday in her home at Mesa. Ariz., of heart disease, it was learned Thursday.

Mrs. Kartchener was born in Fillmore, Utah, and was a member of an LDS colony in Old Mexico for a time. Her first husband, Jesse Porter Sr., died many years ago and she remarried.

Besides the one son, six sons and a daughter survive, Toelle and Elmo Porter and Mrs. Moneta Worsley, Mesa, Ariz; Zeros Porter, Logan, Utah; Frances M. and Nathan Edward Porter, Tooele, Utah.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at Mesa, Ariz.

Illness Is Fatal to Mesa Woman
MESA Mar. 14 -Mrs. Phoebe Porter Kartchner, 242 South Lesueur street, Mesa, passed away this morning after a short illness. Funeral services are awaiting word from her children.

A native of Fillmore, Utah, she came to Arizona in 1921 and in Mesa in 1929. Her first husband, E.D. Porter, died in 1933 in Mesa. Since coining to Mesa, Mrs. Kartchner has been actively engaged in work at the Arizona Temple.

Besides her husband, Culver Kartchner, she is survived by six children, Jesse Porter, Ammon, Ida.; Frances Porter, Edward Porter and Mrs. Moneta K. Worsley of Tooele, Utah, and Elmo Porter of Mesa. Also four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Webb of Mesa, Mrs. Katherine Porter of Blackfoot, Ida.. Mrs. Ellen Chamberlain of Glendale, Utah, and Mrs. May Lang of Saint George, Utah

TOOELE - Word was received here Monday of the death of Edson Porter former resident of this section in Mesa, Ariz, Sunday following a heart attack. Burial will take place in Mesa.

Mr Porter was born at Provo April Apri 12, 1859, a son of Sanford C. and Lydia Cook Porter. The family moved to Orderville he was a youth. He married Catherine Carling in 1883 and in 1889 married Phoebe M. Carling both of whom survive. He moved with with other L.D.S. colonists to Mexico in 1890 but returned to Salt Lake in 1912. For five years yeas he was manager of the farm at Bauer, near here but moved to Mesa in 1921, where he had resided since.

Besides his widows he is survived b by the following sons and daughters; Mrs Delila Grimstead, Sandy; Mrs Asenith Stevens, Ogden; Mrs Clara Whipple, Frances and Nathan E. Porter and Mrs Moneta Worsley, Tooele; Zenos Porter, Provo Jesse and Edson I. Porter, Idaho Falls; Mrs Irene Pratt, Elmo and Evan Porter, Mesa.

Phoebe can not be found in any record, since they lived in Mexico for a while, it appeared to be a polygamist marriage. One of the children's obituary noted that a total of 23 children were born, six of which were born to Phoebe: Jesse, Frances, Nathan Edward, Moneta, Zenos and Elmo .
