Eugene L. Arter Jr., 55, a native of Columbia, died Monday while working in Folsom, Calif. Arter, who lived at Lake Hills Estates, Folsum, apparently died of a heart attack at the Chemtron Corp. The husband of Mildred Everly Arter, he had lived in California for the past 15 years. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Eugene L. Arter Sr., Columbia, and the late Ellen Aston Arter. A retired civil service employe, he served in the Army Air Corps. during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Order of St. Francis. Besides his father, he is survived by five children, all living in California, and a brother, Chester H. Arter Sr., Columbia. (Intelligencer Journal - Nov 19, 1975)
