WILLIAM J. WILLIAMS
Sgt. William John Williams has been listed as missing in action over France since April 20, according to infomation received by his wife, the former Miss Dora McMaster, 404 Victory Avenue.
The action, in which Sgt. Williams was a gunner, was one of his first missions, his wife said. He is the father of a seven-year old son, Roth Williams.
Sgt. Williams is a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and was a machinist at the General Electric Co. prior to entering the Air Corps July 11, 1942. He received the silver wings of an aerial gunner at Harlengen, Texas, and was sent overseas early in March. His parents are Alfred Williams of Boston and Mrs. Margaret Keeton of Avers, Mass.

A service of remembrance will be held at the State Street Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 7 p.m. The program will honor the young men and women of the church in the national service.
There are 115 on the service honor roll.
There will be special recognition of William J. Williams, killed in action April 20, 1944; Richard C. White, killed in action Dec. 5, 1944; Albert L. Fuller, reported missing in action at Bataan, and of whom no final word has been received; Charles Norton, reported missing in action in Italy; and Raymond C. Swart, a prisoner of war in Germany.
Rev. H. Victor Frederick will conduct the service and a give a brief meditation on "Christian Victory." Mrs. Phillip Caldwell, organist, and the Cambrian Male Chorus under the direction of William Arthur Jones will provide special music. The Chorus will sing "There is No Death" by O'Hara and "Prayer" by Kountz. Organ selections will include the prelude "I Call on Thee Lord" by Bach, "No Light There", a traditional hymn tune, and the postlude "Organ Improvisation" by Caldwell.

Bodies of Four Area Veterans Due Home
The remains of four area men are among the 5,328 Americans being returned to the United States from Europe aboard the U.S. Army transport, Haiti Victory, the department of the army has announced.
Armed forces dead orginally interred in military cemeteries in France, Holland and Belgium are among those being returned to this country. A total of 522 remains are being returned to next of kin in New York State.
Local war dead and their next of kin are: Sergeant William J. Williams, Air Force, to Mrs. Dora L. Williams, 404 Victory Avenue.
