Maple Grove has three (3) sections starting from East Road as #1, #2, #3 with a last section known as N, (the far field edge). There are at present seven (7) ranges going from the west (open field) to the east (Jordan Road). The building is located at Section #1, Range #1.

The Gainesville Cemetery Association was formed under New York State laws in April of 1849 at the district number nine schoolhouse. The trustee meeting of March 8, 1882, had M.F. Bristol and J. Shaver chosen to act to purchase ten acres of land from John M. Lawrence for the sum of one thousand dollars. The grounds on East Road, Town of Gainesville, Tax Map ID #133-1-27, were to be known as Maple Grove Cemetery. Bristols, Hickeys, Cravaths, Allens, are just some of the early pioneers buried in a cemetery that has grown over the years as "a fit resting place for the dear ones gone before", a statement made by the first trustees. It has and is living up to the statement providing a well maintained cemetery. Information has come from Wyoming County Historian Office, Stanley Rutherford, Town of Gainesville Historian, visual walks and readings, and area newspapers to provide people with a means to be in touch with their past.
