ALAMO NATIVE LEAVES SIX DAUGHTERS, THREE SONS
FUNERAL THURSDAY
Mrs. Mary C. Fletcher, who observed her 87th birthday on April 1, died at 1:45 o'clock, Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. John Barton, north of Crawfordsville. She had been seriously ill since February 25. Death was attributed to complications.
Mrs. Fletcher was born near Alamo on April 1, 1952, the daughter of William and Abbie Smith. Orphaned at the age of seven, she was reared to womanhood by Pashal and Margaret Wilhite. On April 25, 1875, she was married to Foster A. Fletcher. She was a member of the Friends church.
She is survived by six daughters, Ida Busenbark, of Indianapolis; Margaret Cox of Crawfordsville; Mary Dunn, of Frankfort; Helen Barton and Mabel Fletcher of near Crawfordsville, and Ethel Todd of Linden; three sons, Charles and Russell Fletcher, who live in Illinois, and Walter Fletcher of Shannondale. Twenty-three grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Anna Vail and Iva Fletcher, and two sons, Merle and Earl Fletcher.
The funeral will be held from the Proffitt & Sons funeral home in this city on Thursday afternoon at 2 0'clock with Rev. Cornelius Airhart of New Market officiating. Burial will be made at Oak Hill cemetery.
