On 14 Mar 1944 married Wilma Flynn(1921-1980) in Chicago, Illinois. Together they had 2 sons.

Magnus joined the Marines in 1939 - during WWII he saw action in the Battle of Midway, the Makin Island Raid, Guadalcanal & Bougainville.

During the Korean War he was killed while fighting the enemy house to house in Seoul.
