Mary Beam Drennon

Mrs. Mary Beam Drennon died early Friday morning in Carson City. She was one of Nevada's oldest residents and recently celebrated her 102nd birthday on Sept 9 at the Capitol Convalescent Center.

She was born in Clearfield County, PA., in 1868. She moved with her family to Missouri when she was a small child.

She was married to Arthur Drennon on Oct. 6, 1889 in Hartsville, Mo. In 1891 she and her husband and three children moved with her mother and brother to the new Oklahoma Territory.

They farmed in Oklahoma and later in Kansas.

They came to Carson City in 1947 to be near their youngest son, Ted Drennon of Reno and eldest daughter, Margaret Drennon Coe of Carson City.

Mr. Drennon died at the age of 93 on Jan. 23, 1963. The eldest son, John of Edmond, Okla., died in 1957.

Mrs. Drennon is survived by five daughters, Margaret Coe of Carson City, Agnes Desserding of Coddeeville, Kan., Ocie Heady of Washington, D.C., Olah Becker of Sylmar, Calif., Jess Thurston of Boston, Mass.; a son, Ted Drennon of Reno; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at the Walton Funeral Home in Carson City Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Darrell Reyman officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at the Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.

Five of Mrs. Drennon's grandchildren: Harold and Max Faylor and Harry Efferding, all of Carson City, Homer Taylor and Ted Drennon Jr., both of Reno, and one great-grandson, Lynn Faylor of Carson City, will be the pallbearers.
