Born in Rushville June 12, 1928 he was the son of the late Wilbur "Dixie" Bennett and Aileen Smith Bennett. He married Toshiko Murata December 23, 1960 and she survives.
He was retired from the US Navy serving from 1945 to 1971. He also was Rushville City Street Commissioner nine years for Mayor Raymond Gibson.
Memberships include the First Presbyterian Church; American Legion; Fleet Reserve Association & the NRA.
Survivors beside his wife Toshiko Bennett include three daughters Dixie (Mrs. John) Meyer, Kathy (Mrs. Brad) Miley & Patty (Mrs. Bill) Paris; one brother John (wife Judy) Bennett; Seven Grandchildren and Two Nieces also survive.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Saturday February 19, 2005 at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dena Vittorio officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be at East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the South Central Indiana Hospice or Rush County Relay for Life with envelopes available at the funeral home.
