Mr. Bacsu is a Veteran of World War II, having held the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He served honorably in the U.S.Army Corps as a navigator aboard B-17 Bombers. On his 37th mission, his plane was shot down over Germany and he was taken prisoner and held in Stalag Luft 1, in Barth, Germany.

He was awarded several Medals, the Air Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters, the Distinguished Unit Citation, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Purple Heart, and the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years - Winifred (Jepsen) Bacsu.
