Dwight Donald Hefner, 82, son of the late Eddie E. Hefner and Zella Mae Fissel Hefner, was born March 21, 1920 in Myrtle, MO, and died Aug. 6, 2002, in Peoria, AZ.
He was married in Kansas City, MO to Effie Gregory August 26, 1967. She preceded him in death April 25, 1995.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rites.
He was employed by Federal Aviation Administration as an Aircraft Inspector for 29 years, retiring in 1980.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are three nieces, Beverly Gordan of Paragould, AR; Ann Barton of California; and Jane Hardin of Fort Worth, TX; and two nephews, James Sutherland of Victorville, CA; and Bill Hefner of Mountain Grove, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Waldo Hefner; two sisters, Chloe Clark and Maxine Sutherland; and one nephew, Gene Clark.
Graveside services were Aug. 11, at the Thayer Cemetery with Bill Bales officiating. Military rites were by the Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer, MO.
