Joseph H. Anderson, 83, lifelong resident of the county, passed away last Thursday afternoon at the home of a grandson, Harold Anderson of Olney Rt. 5.

Mr. Anderson had recently been living in Olney at 309 N. Lexington St. He was found hanged in a barn. A coroner's inquiry ruled that he took his own life, following an investigation by Coroner Dr. L.J. Knox, Deputy Robert Schaub, Sheriff George Shipley and Deputy Don Watson.

He was born in Richland County, the son of George Anderson and Mary O'Dell. He had lived most of his life in Decker Township and near Noble.

Mr. Anderson leaves his wife, Jane, and the following children: Ira, Edd., and Floyd, all of Olney; Mrs. Bessie Salter of Flora; Mrs. Ora Travis of Wenona; Mrs. Ruby Summers of Belvidere; Mrs. Opal Harrison of Wixom, Mich.; and Mrs. Neva Hazel of Aurora. There are also three step-children, Mrs. Beatrice Schnell of Noble, Darrell McCleary of Bloomington, and William McCleary of near Chicago; 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs.Ella Foil of Noble is a sister and half-sisters are Mrs. Bertha Travis of Noble and Mrs. Maggie Klingensmith of Olney.
