Elizabeth S. Kiefer

Aged 89 of Wilmington, DE died Thursday, August 18, 2005, at the Methodist Country House.

She was a graduate of Tyrone High School, in Tyrone, PA and a graduate of the Nursing School of Altoona Hospital in Altoona, PA. During World War II, she served as a registered nurse at Fort Story, achieving the rank of lieutenant. After Workd War II, she was a homekamer. She was a member of many organizations including the Daughters of the American revolution (DAR), the Junior Board, The Symphony Women and the Church Women United. She was a life member of First and Central Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Kiefer was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Her husband, John F. Kiefer, died in 2000. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Ted and Robert. She is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia K. Kelley and her jusband, John B. Kelley, of Murphy, NC and Joan K. Meade and her husband, Capt. Randolph Meade, III, of Pembrook Pines, FL; her granddaughters, Jennifer M. Donovan of PA and Leslie B. Cross of New York, NY; her grandson: G. Daniel Cross of San Francisco, CA; and her great granddaughter, Emily Grace Donovan.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday morning, August 23, at 11 am at the Danby Chapel of the Methodist Country House, 4830 Kennett Pike, Wilmington. Commital services will be on Tuesday morning at 12:30 pm at Riverview Gardens, 33rd and Market Streets, Wilmington.

In liew of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Christiana Care, 4755 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19718.
