Arnold Roman Noterman was born in Shakopee, Mn. on March 18, 1912 to Thomas J.H. Noterman and Clara Latour. At the age of four, the family moved to their newly purchased farm at Woodstock, Mn. It was there he attended St. Martin's School through the eighth grade.

In 1938, the Noterman family moved to a farm south of Adams where they resided until January of 1947 when they moved briefly to Shakopee.

On October 28, 1946 Arnold was married to Helen E. Gerber at Johnsburg, Mn. Their first home was at Austin where they lived until they took up farming northwest of Adams in the spring of 1948. In 1949 they moved to their new farm, south of Adams. He lived there until his death at his farm home at the age of 73 on August 1, 1985, after an illness of over three years with cancer. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; five sons, Gary, Gene, Edward and Daniel, all of Adams, and Fredrick of Hayfield; four daughters, Mrs. John (Jane) Merdan, Avon, Mn.; Julie Noterman, Tucson, Az.; Mrs. Gary (Teresa) Smith and Clair Noterman, Adams; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Joseph, Sara and Eric Merdan, Avon; and Sophia and Vanessa Smith, Adams; a brother, LeRoy of Hayfield; three sisters, Lenora Kellen, St. Paul; Mrs. Paul (Marcella) Schaefer, Austin; and Mrs. Walter (Verna) Gehrts, Moorhead; three aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Frederick Thomas, who died on August 1, 1948; his parents who died in 1967; and four brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Math and George.

Funeral services were held on August 3, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Adams with Father Andrew Kreidermacher and Father Donald Schmitz co-officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, beside a niece, Patricia Ann Noterman who died in 1945. Pallbearers were nephews: William Kellen, Mark Schaefer, Robert Noterman, Steve Noterman, Gary Nagle and John Nagle. Lector was a niece, Sister Patrice Noterman, and gift bearers were Jennifer, Joseph and Sara Merdan. Music was provided by Maureen, Sue, Valerie and Steve Golombowski and Audrey Hemann. The Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
