Atreus McGary was stillborn, 5 September 1867, in Chappell Hill, Texas, to Maj Daniel Leonidas McGary and Martha Jane Summers. His twin sister, Annie Statira McGary, was born healthy. Little Atreus was buried with his older sister, Nettie McGary, on the family's property (possibly near the present location of Brenham's Starlite Drive-In Theater). His parents sold the land two years later; the deed stated that one square acre was reserved, being the graves of their two deceased children, plus right of way to graves.
