John D. "Jack" Hessler, 84, Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born, January 5, 1925 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Jacob and Stella Catherine (Ray) Hessler.
He was a foreman for the Indiana Gas Company in Greensburg until his retirement in 1986. He joined Indiana Gas in 1950 as a laborer and had held several positions including machine operator, truck driver and serviceman before being promoted to foreman in 1979. All of his work had been in Greensburg.
He loved woodworking, traveling, fishing, and hunting.
He was married to Bernadine Witt on June 30, 1944 in Connersville, In. and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter; Bonnie Jean (David L.) Hamilton, Greensburg, one grandson; David Brent (Karen) Hamilton, Greensburg, one great granddaughter; Mackenzie Hamilton, Greensburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Ralph Earl Hessler, one sister; Catherine Burnett, four half brothers; Carl Wright, Wilbur Wright, William Hessler, and Fred Hessler, and one half sister; Helen Lemmon.
Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. James Perry officiating.
Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Hospital Foundation.
