Rebecca Burkhalter was the daughter of William Burkhalter and Rebecca Ramsey. She was born in 1786 in Edgefield Co, SC. Her father was born in Chatham Co, GA. Both her paternal grandparents were born in Switzerland but emigrated to America. Her mother was born in Edgefield Co, SC. Rebecca married Dr. Archibald Faulkner in Edgefield Co, SC. They moved with their first child to Warren County, TN in 1808. They settled on a farm beside Hickory Creek near Viola, nine miles south of McMinnville. Dr. Faulkner was probably the first physician to practice medicine in the county outside of McMinnville and may have even been the first to practice in the County. Dr. Faulkner had a grist mill and the first woolen mill and cotton gin on Hickory Creek in the Eighth District. Rebecca was originally buried in Wheeler Cemetery, Warren Co, TN; however, Wheeler Cemetery was destroyed in 1980. The headstone was recovered and moved to Faulkner Cemetery, Pike Hill Road, McMinnville, Warren Co, TN. Rebecca and Archibald were the parents of: Honasa "Asa" Faulkner b. 7/16/1802, Miriam Faulkner abt. 1805, Sarah Faulkner abt. 1808, Adeline Faulkner b. 2/14/1814, William Burkhalter Faulkner b. 9/17/1814, Lewis L. Faulkner b. 2/17/1822, and Archibald Faulkner, Jr. b. 7/7/1826.
