Mr. Clarence Newton Blake, 95, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Chapel. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Mark Weekley, Rev. Aaron Moss, and Rev. Rodney Blake officiating.
Mr. Blake was born in Montgomery County, on July 7, 1913. Clarence retired as a field supervisor at Brooks Lumber Company. He was a member and a Sunday School Teacher at Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, James Blueford and Mary Baldwin Blake.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Irene Coble Blake; sons, Gary Newton Blake and wife, Lorene of North Wilkesboro, Earl D. Blake and wife, Judy of Ocean Isle Beach, Harold D. Blake and wife, Judith of Greensboro, H. Wayne Blake and wife, Diane of Highland Village, Texas; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
