Abbie Leone Hollis, died on April 25, 1999. She was born October 24, 1907 to Andrew M. and Martha Jane Kinney Hollis at or near Mt. View, Kiowa County, Oklahoma.

She had eight older brothers and sisters and one younger brother.

Abbie attended college at Northwestern in Alva, OK; Southwestern in Weatherford, OK, and graduated from OBU in Shawnee, OK with a degree English.

She taught school for 41 years, teaching English, Spanish and music. Schools where she taught include Ocina, Gould, Vinson, Blair, Coopertown, Mountain View, Burns Flat, Anadarko, Chickasha, Crooked Oak and Star-Spencer.

Wherever Abbie was, she was involved in church work and church choirs; teaching, singing, leading singing, playing the piano and witnessing for the Lord.

After retirement Abbie was involved in Literacy Missions, teaching English as a second language and tutoring people from other countries.

At the age of 71, Abbie spent 7 months as a Mission Service Corps Volunteer in Montana, helping to establish Southern Baptist work in that area.

Abbie was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, William Elbert (1892-1903), Oscar Roy (1893-1981), Robert Lee (1898-1965), Melvin Andrew (1900-1965), and Alvis Reese (1910-1986) Hollis; and four sisters, Margaret L. Hollis Tate (1894-1979), Minnie Hollis Gibson (1896-1965), Leta Jane Hollis Barber (1903-1992), and Roxanna Hollis Mason (1905-1990).

She is survived by 16 nephews and nieces and their families.

Services were held Friday, April 30, 1999 at 11am at the First Baptist Church in the Louise Prichard Chapel. Burial at 3pm at the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain View, Oklahoma.
