Obit: May 1917: Mrs. Joe Davis died last Wednesday:
Mr. and Mrs. Sam T. Davis returned home the latter part of last week from Lamesa, where they had been at the bedside of Mrs. Davis' Mother, Mrs. Joe M. Davis, who has for the past two years resided near Lamesa. As will be seen from the following notice from the Dawson County News, Mrs. Davis died last Wednesday. The News gives the following notice of the death of this good woman:
On Tuesday morning of this week Mrs. Margaret Davis died at the home of her son in Lamesa. She was born in Alabama January 22, 1852, being 65 years old, at the time of her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church and has lived in Texas since 1897, and has been a resident of Lamesa for two years. She was the mother of five children, who together with her husband she leaves to mourn her death. She was a good woman and during her residence here had contracted many strong friendships by her kindness and ever ready disposition to take a stand for the right in the full discharge of life's duties. She was of the type of womanhood that takes toll of the experiences' of life in passing through its many ordeals, coming forth at its end purified in character and rich in that wisdom that gives assurance that there is "a rest prepared for the people of God" The News joins the many friends of the family in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved in their sad hour. The remains were shipped to th former home of the family, at McGregor, Texas for burial.
