Married Elizabeth Elliott, 12 Jun 1843, Totness, Devon, England

History - Came to Utah Oct. 16, 1853, with ox and cow for team, C. E. Bolton independent company. Settled at Farmington Oct. 19, 1853, and spent the first winter sawing lumber with hand saw. Assisted in building sawmill in Bears' Canyon 1854; assisted in building first flour mill in Ogden 1854; assisted in building first carding mill in Farmington and the first in Utah. During the winter of 1857 and 1858 was in Echo Canyon with Capt. Philemon Merrill company resisting Johnston's army. Went south with the "move"; returned to Farmington fall of 1878, where he resided until his death, Sept. 7, 1887.
