Services for Dr. J.C. Davis were held in the Rule First Methodist Church. He was Mayor of Rule and served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1934 to 1938. A Methodist, he had been chairman of the board of stewards of Rule First Methodist Church. He had been a Mason for more than 60 years. The youngest of 14 children, Dr. Davis married Cora Foster on 25 December 1903 in Canton, Texas. In 1899, he was awarded a medical degree from Vanderbilt University. He moved to Texas in 1900. Survived by his wife; three sons - Foster Davis, J.C. Davis, Jr., and Judge Tom G. Davis.
