Born in Meridan,Mississippi,and was appointed to West Point from that state,upon his graduation in 1898 he became a second lieutenant and he rose through the commissioned ranks until he retired in 1938.
He attended A&M College in Starkville, Mississippi before entering West Point in 1894. Following stateside assignments and military schools.
Served in the Philippines from 1903 to 1906 and then on the Cuban Pacification until 1907. During the World War he worked in the Service of Supply in France and won a Distinguished Service Medal for his war time effort and devotion to duty.He held several foreign decorations.
He was the G1 of the I Corps Area from 1921 to 1924 and the Inspector General of the II Corps Area prior to his retirement as a Brigadier General in 1938.
Died of a heart attack.
