Nephew of John Quin. Newspaper reports he died at a place called Wootan Wells, TX. Remains taken to Galveston for funeral service, and presumably burial. 3 of his sons are buried in 3 different cemeteries in Galveston County: James Edgar (1927) in the Old City Cemetery, Frank Michael (1930) in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, and Claude Alphonse (1966) in Galveston Memorial Park. The widow (1918) and son Joseph Delacy (1968) are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Houston, TX. Linwood sexton has no record of Michael A. D. being buried in September 1884, and no newspaper record of the body being brought to GA. Maybe grave moved here later, or probably just a cenotaph (memorial)

Son: James Edgar Quin (1862--1927)

Son: Frank Michael Quin (1868--1930)

Son: Joseph Delacy Quin (1878--1968)

Son: Claude Alphonse Quin (1882--1966)

I have a Michael D. Quin in my family tree with the identical birth and death dates posted on this memorial. I had been searching for him in Texas because that is where he lived and was as of the 1880 census. But, the photgraphs indicate a family burial plot, and since I do not know where his family is I am going to assume that this is the same Michael. If so, his birth was Limerick, Ireland. Death, Wooten Wells, Texas. He was also a Confederate Civil War veteran. Married, Anne Eliza Janes 1840-1918)Anne the daughter of Stephen William and Juliet Janes. Michael and Anne had 5 children, 4 who lived, Francis, Joseph, Claude and James.
That is all the information I can give you at this time, but hope to learn more about his Civil War service. Thank you. M.Andersen
