Ira J. Crews Died At Hoboken Monday

Ira J. Crews, 54, died at his residence near Hoboken, Monday night, Dec. 30, after a long illness.

He was born and reared in the community in which he died, and was considered one of the most progressive farmers in Brantley County.

He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Neva Dixon; five daughters, Mrs. W. T. Thomas, Waycross, Miss Martha Lee Crews, Miss Mattie Lou Crews, Miss Thelma Crews and Miss Frances Crews all of Hoboken, Route 1; six sons, Archie B. Crews, Fleming Crews, Rippard Crews, Elzira Crews, Witmer Crews all of Hoboken, Route 1; and Archie Crews, Jacksonville; one sister, Mrs. I. J. Crawford, Waycross; three brothers, Charlie C. Crews and Lawton Crews, both of Hoboken and Levy Crews, Manor, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at High Bluff Church in Brantley County. Burial was in High Bluff Cemetery. The honorary pallbearers included Ira Thomas, D. C. Kelly, Floyd & J. K. Larkins, Homer Crews, C. T. Myers, Johnny Thomas, N. C. Lynn, Elvie Dowling, Moncie & Estes Crawford and Condis Drawdy. Mincy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
