Born in Laneville, Texas, her early life was spent there with graduation from the Laneville High School. College life included Stephen F. Austin University, Texas Wesleyan College and East Texas State University.
Career and community involvement included employment at what was know at that time as Nicholson Memorial Library for thirteen years, followed by twenty years at the Margaret Estes Library at LeTourneau University.
Her many years enjoying working with books might be likened to the analogy taken in part from the epitaph Ben Franklin composed for himself. "The body is like the cover of an old book, its contents torn out and stripped of its lettering and gilding. But the work shall not be lost for it will appear again in a new and elegant edition, revised and corrected by the AUTHOR." Retirement from the LeTourneau University Library in 1990 gave opportunity for thirteen years with Longview Community Ministries Meals On Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty five years, S.G. Miley; her parents, J.E. and Vera Guy; her sister, Beth Warren; and brother, Regan Guy.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jan Ellen Stephens of Ft. Worth and Judy Hogberg of Marshall; one son, Lynn Miley of Rochester, New York; five grandchildren, Mark Hogberg, Mary Ann Hamby, Melissa McReynolds, Todd Stephens and Scott Stephens; eleven great-grandchildren, Hogan Hamby, Rachel Hamby, Brock Hamby, Kylee Hogberg, Zoey Hogberg, Halle Hogberg, Audrey McReynolds, Hudson McReynolds, Emily McReynolds, Colter Stephens, Katie Stephens; brother, Tom Guy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
