Albertina Dreiling, 94, of Garden City, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.

She was born Dec. 30, 1914, in Pfeifer, to Adam Ed and Emma Schreibvogel Urban. The family moved to Sitka, where she attended schools. She has lived in the Garden City, Deerfield and Lakin areas since she was 16, when the family moved to Garden City.

A homemaker, Mrs. Dreiling also worked for several years at Garden City Laundry. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society, and enjoyed embroidery, flower gardening and spending time with her family.

On Jan. 6, 1931, she married Al A. Dreiling in Garden City. He died July 10, 1998. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sylvia Simmons; four sisters, Irene Gunkel, Alice Urban, Barbara Lee and Mary Rose Dahna; two brothers, John and Eugene Urban; a granddaughter, Marci Penka; and a great-granddaughter, Tammi Anderson.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Dreiling of Centennial, Colo.; three daughters, Violet Fry of Garden City, Lilly Penka of Great Bend, and Mary Ann Campbell of Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Vernilda Williams of Atchison; 20 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Vigil service and rosary was at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Funeral Mass was at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
