It has been suggested that Abraham Osborn was the son of Burzelia Osborn and Elizabeth Hill Osborn. But there seems to be some evidence that his father might have been Caleb Osborn listed in the 1830 census in the same county as Abraham and his wife. His parentage, therefore, is in queston.

Abraham married Mary Shepard on January 25, 1829, in Dearborn County, Indiana.

According to the Osborn Family Bible, Abraham and Mary Osborn had the following children:
Elizabeth Osborn born September 20, 1830
Mary Jane Osborn born October 27, 1832
Daniel Hagerman Osborn born December 15, 1834, died October 31, 1861
John Osborn born July 8, 1837, died January 26, 1839 at age 18 months 18 days
Abraham Osborn born July 14, 1841
Martha Osborn born March 27, 1844, died March 28, 1844
Edmund B. Osborn born February 26, 1846, died July 17, 1846

It appears from these records that Mary Osborn may have died from the complications of childbirth, living only 13 days after the birth of their son Edmund in 1846.

On November 7, 1847, Abraham married Elizabeth Bishop Whited in Des Moines County, Iowa. Elizabeth had previously been married to James Whited.

In 1850 Abraham and Elizabeth were living in Des Moines Co, Iowa with:
Jonathan age 19
Mary age 22
Sarah age 20
Pliny age 16
Daniel age 14
Ephraim age 13
Lucinda age 11
Abraham age 9
(Some of the children were Abraham's children by a previous marriage to Mary Shepard and some were Elizabeth's children by a previous marriage to James Whited. They were all born in Indiana.)

Abraham, Elizabeth and their children arrived in Oregon on September 30, 1853. They are listed in the Early Oregonians Database Index of the Oregon State Archives.

According to Abraham Osborn Jr.'s obituary, the family crossed the plains to Oregon, locating in Fox Valley, near Lyons where Abraham Sr. settled on a donation land claim. Some years later the family moved to Scio, and Abraham Sr. engaged in blacksmithing, which occupation Abraham Jr. followed.

In 1860 Abraham and Elizabeth were living in Linn County, Oregon with son Abraham age 20.
