Opal F. Farthing, age 72, of Independence, formerly of Versailles, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2005 at the Medical Center of Independence. She was born October 16, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of William A. and Fanchen Hymer Howser. Mrs. Farthing was a retired bookkeeper and formerly owned a ceramic shop in Versailles. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Marcia Dayton of Independence, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymon Howser and Douglas Howser. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 in the Versailles Cemetery with Reverend Todd Forman officiating.
