Obituary: Weakley County Press, 10 Oct 2008 - Mitchell Britt Mansfield, 87, of Palmersville, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Weakley County Rehab and Nursing in Dresden. Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin Funeral Home, with Bro. Bob Conley and Bro. Kieth Dublin officiating. Burial was at Macks Grove Cemetery near Dresden. Dennis Woodruff, David Woodruff, Donald Woodruff, Daryl Woodruff, Paul Mansfield and John Mansfield served as pallbearers. Mansfield was born in Palmersville, son of the late Erwin F. and Vera Byars Mansfield. He was a farmer and dairyman, a World War II Navy veteran who served in the South Pacific, a member of American Legion No. 94 for 62 years and a member of Palmersville Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, May Ardell Eaves Mansfield of Dresden; a sister, Peggy M. Woodruff of Memphis; a brother, Porter (Mary Jo) Mansfield of Hendersonville; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be made to Palmersville Missionary Baptist Church.
