~ Noreen ~

Noreen was born on July 23, 1918 in Royal, Iowa. Her parents were James Millard Morgan and Mattie Rose (Clifton) Morgan. Noreen married Oliver Morgan in February 1938. They were married for over 68 years. They spent the first part of their married years in Iowa, and the rest in Southern California. Noreen worked at Sears for many years, and sang with the Hawthorne Church Choir. They retired in 1980 and moved to Tulare, California.

Noreen was the family historian and spent countless hours gathering data and putting together family histories and photos for the next generations to enjoy. She created a yearly holiday letter full of family updates (marriages, deaths, births, family reunions) and always included an original poem and artwork that she created herself. These newsletters were anticipated yearly, and lovingly cherished. I have personally kept every one of these in a folder to hand down to my children. Noreen's works are truly appreciated and treasured by her family.

Noreen was a warm, loving, fun, caring person with a sweet and gentle soul, and she is sincerely missed.

A poem written by Noreen, to thank her family and friends for the 50th Wedding Anniversary Party held in their honor:

Special Blessings
by Noreen Morgan

Our special blessings, -- family
That planned this celebration --
And special blessings, are the friends
Who came for this occasion.
And special blessings are the ones
Who live too far away,
But sent congratulations
For our very special day!
A special blessing is the fact
Our Lord saw fit to bless us --
Three children, spouses, thirteen grands!
Well, that must spell "SUCCESSES!"
Depressions, moves, from state to state
Our struggles, laughter, tears --
And special blessings that our marriage
Lasted - Fifty Years!
Thank you, friends, for being YOU,
Your love's SO instrumental
In filling up you Memory Book,
You make this day SO special!

One of my favorite poems written by Noreen:

If we could have one magic wish
We'd wish you at our door
We'd greet you with a cheery smile
And shake your hand, for sure
We'd ask you in to spend some time
And give you each, a hug
We'd offer cookies, festive breads
Hot beverage, in a mug
We'd ask about your families
And what you've done this year
We'd tell you all about our own
And time, would disappear
We'd share our thoughts, and reminisce
Of good times, spent before
Remembering so many things
If you were at our door
We'd wish you joy, and ask the Lord
To bless you on this day
And pray he'll guide you safely home
As you go on your way
