Funeral services for Lewis W. Motes, 60, who died suddenly at noon Wednesday at a St. Augustine hospital following a brief illness, were conducted at 11 a.m. today from the Peniel Baptist church. The Rev. E. A. Calkins, pastor of the Ancient City Baptist church, of St. Augustine, of which the deceased was a member officiated. Burial was in the Peniel Cemetery.
Mr. Motes was born at Hollister but had resided in St. Augustine for the past 17 years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Frances Motes; three daughters, Mrs. Elaine Hines and Mrs. Lottie Zeigler, both of St. Augustine, and Mrs. Deborah of East Palatka; three sons, Leslie E., Roy and Warren Motes, all of St. Augustine; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Chesser and Mrs. Lizzie Turner, both of Hollister; two grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.
